Walgreens Tips

Register Rewards are coupons that print from a little machine next to the register. If you happen to purchase an item that offers a register reward that week, then you get the coupon. The coupon/RR is good for the amount specified: Example: Thermacare wraps on sale this week at walgreens for $2.49, offering you a $2.50 RR. When you go to purchase the thermacare wrap, you will pay $2.49 plus tax OOP (out of pocket), and then a RR for $2.50 on a future visit will print off for you.
The RR's have expirations dates on them, so its important to keep an eye on that. Also, a RR can not be used for the same item for which you got it. So, for example.. you cant go back that same day and buy another Thermacare wrap and use your 2.50 RR and expect another RR to pop out.
Also, you can not get multiple RRs in the same transaction for the same product. For example: If you want to purchase Three Thermacare wraps, purchase them in 3 different transactions to recieve the RR on all of them. The Cosmetics counter is great for this stuff. They receive a commission on sales and are very helpful.. most of the time they also have books of coupons like you and I do and are willing to share!
IMPORTANT: Walgreens does not allow more coupons than items. Make sure you have the same if not more items than coupons. For example: You have a coupon for $1.00 thermacare, and want to purchase just the thermacare.. then you are fine. But, if you have a Walgreens coupon and a Manufact. Coupon for thermacare, you must have another item. These are called Fillers*. Small priced or great deal items that dont require a coupon.

Ive found that the best way to do well at WAlgreens is to "Roll your RR's". Try to purchase items each week that have RR;s available. You can then use your stacked RR's from previous weeks, and still recieve new ones! So, if pepsi is on sale this week for 4 for $12 with a $5 RR, then you can use for of your $2.50 RRs, pay $2.00 OOP and receive $5 RR back after purchase. This right here is the key to success with Wags!

Remember, an RR is considered a "coupon". So, if you have 5 items and 5 manuf. coupons from the sunday paper, and want to pay with your RRs, you cant unless you grab fillers. So if you have 4 RRS you want to use, grab 4 fillers and then you can use them!

This is confusing at first, but start off small. Try to go and purchase an item with an RR. Use your coupons to get the GREAT deal.. then try to roll it the next week. You will get the hang of it. Most Walgreens staff are super nice.. find a cashier that works with you :)
